The coat should be short and shiny, the coloration coats recognized by the standard are: tan black, tan tan, black tricolor and brown tricolor.<\/p>\n FUNCTIONALITY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n It is included in the group of hunting dogs since this is its main function, standing out especially in hunting rabbits and rats, showing great tenacity and passion.<\/p>\n Its small size, its courage, its intelligence and physical resistance make it a great companion animal and at the same time an excellent gardian.<\/p>\n MORPHOLOGY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n racial prototype<\/strong><\/p>\n General characteristics<\/span><\/p>\n The Majorcan dog is a small dog, well below the average size of the canine species. Its height does not reach 40 centimeters and 32 – 36 centimeters in males and 29 – 33 centimeters in females are normal.<\/p>\n Its weight is low, from 3.5 to 5 kilos in males, and from 3 to 4 kilos in females. Bearing in mind that the profile of the head, skull and face is straight, it can be said that according to Baron’s classification system, the Majorcan dog is rectilinear, brevilinear and ultraellipometric.<\/p>\n It is an animal with a very lively, loving, very nervous and susceptible temperament. Great guard of the house, since it suddenly warns the owner. Great hunter of rats and rabbits, since it enters through any sinkhole, it jumps the walls very easily, apart from the fact that it runs very quickly. It is also an excellent companion animal.<\/p>\n Regional characteristics<\/span><\/p>\n HEAD<\/span><\/strong>: Slightly prominent, but in harmonic proportion to the body. The face is narrow and sharply pointed, with well marked masseters. The nose is small and black, and this is its usual colour, although there is a correlation between the color of the nose, the lips and the eyes, which are similar. The lips are thin and collected, well attached to the gums. The marinade is not marked at all and is usually black in color, like the nose and other mucous membranes. Teeth are white, healthy, strong and correctly positioned. The bite is in the manner called with scissors. The palate is also black or brown in color. The eyes are round, large, somewhat prominent, and horizontal and frontal. Its color is dark amber. The eyelids are thin, well attached to the eye and black. The shoulders are oblique, the thoracolumbar line is horizontal with the loin, strong, straight and short. The belly is tucked in, the croup rounded and the ribs arched.<\/p>\n TAIL<\/span><\/strong>: A characteristic of this breed is that 20% are born without a tail, with a small vertebra flush with the body. In the breed standard, specimens with or without tail are admitted, in compliance with the European regulations that refer to amputations for aesthetic reasons.<\/p>\n LIMBS<\/span><\/strong>: The forelegs are well separated by the chest, which protrudes, and, in general, the limbs are well muscled, especially the hindquarters, endowed with strong bones and good joints, which favors their great ability to jump on its vertical at a great height. Su altura no alcanza los 40 cent\u00edmetros y son normales los 32 - 36 cent\u00edmetros en los machos y los 29 - 33 cent\u00edmetros en las hembras.\n\nSu peso es reducido, de 3,5 a 5 kilos en los machos, y de 3 a 4 kilos en las hembras. Teniendo en cuenta que el perfil de la cabeza, cr\u00e1neo y la cara es recto, se puede decir que de acuerdo con la sistem\u00e1tica de clasificaci\u00f3n de Baron el perro mallorqu\u00edn es rectil\u00edneo, brevil\u00edneo y ultraelipom\u00e9trico.\n\nEs un animal de temperamento muy vivo, amoroso, muy nervioso y susceptible. Gran guardia de la casa, ya que avisa de repente al due\u00f1o. Gran cazador de ratas y conejos, ya que entra por cualquier hundimiento, salte las paredes con mucha facilidad, al margen que corre con mucha rapidez. Es igualmente un animal de compa\u00f1\u00eda excelente.\n\nCaracter\u00edsticas regionales<\/span>\n\nCABEZA: <\/span><\/strong>Destaca poco, pero est\u00e1 en proporci\u00f3n arm\u00f3nica con el cuerpo. La cara es estrecha y marcadamente puntiaguda, con los maseteros bien marcados. La nariz es peque\u00f1a y negra, y es \u00e9ste su color habitual, aunque existe una correlaci\u00f3n entre el color de la nariz, de los labios y de los ojos, que son similares. Los labios son delgados y recogidos, bien apegados a las enc\u00edas. El adobo no es nada marcado y de color habitualmente negro, como la nariz y las dem\u00e1s mucosas. Los dientes son blancos, sanos fuertes y correctamente colocados. El mordisco es de la manera llamada con tijeras. El paladar tambi\u00e9n es de coloraci\u00f3n negra o marr\u00f3n. Los ojos son redondos, grandes, algo prominentes y de posici\u00f3n horizontal y frontal. Su color es \u00e1mbar oscuro. Los p\u00e1rpados son finos, bien apegados al ojo y de color negro. Las orejas son bien erguidas, de tama\u00f1o medio, triangulares, m\u00f3viles, de inserci\u00f3n alta y sobresalen del plano lateral externo de la cabeza cuando el animal est\u00e1 en situaci\u00f3n de alerta.<\/span>\n\nCUELLO<\/strong><\/span>: El cuello es robusto y cil\u00edndrico, de bajo nacimiento y es de prolongaci\u00f3n del pecho hacia arriba y adelante. Su robustez da sensaci\u00f3n de agilidad y tiene igual longitud que la cabeza.\n\nCUERPO<\/span><\/strong>: Es de aspecto cuadrangular en los machos, en cambio en las hembras es m\u00e1s alargado. La musculatura es firme, larga y marcada. La cruz no est\u00e1 marcada y tiene la misma altura que la grupa. El pecho es ancho y redondeado con la punta del estern\u00f3n totalmente integrada en la curva que forma. La l\u00ednea esternal (post del pecho) coincide con la altura de los codos. Los hombros son oblicuos, la l\u00ednea dorsolumbar es horizontal con el lomo, fuerte, recto y corto. El vientre es recogido, la grupa redondeada y el costillar arqueado.\n\nCOLA<\/span><\/strong>: Una caracter\u00edstica de esta raza es que un 20% nace sin cola, con una peque\u00f1a v\u00e9rtebra a ras del cuerpo. En el est\u00e1ndar de la raza se admiten ejemplares con o sin cola, en cumplimiento de la normativa europea que hace referencia a las amputaciones por motivos de est\u00e9tica.\n\nEXTREMIDADES<\/strong><\/span>: <\/span>Los miembros anteriores est\u00e1n bien separados por el pecho, que sobresale, y, en general, los miembros son bien musculados, especialmente los posteriores, dotados de huesos fuertes y buenas articulaciones, lo que favorece la gran capacidad que tienen para efectuar saltos sobre su vertical a gran altura. Los pies son muy finos y del tipo denominado de liebre.<\/span>\n\nMARCHA:<\/span><\/strong> Tanto en el trote como en el galope es muy r\u00e1pido, ya que mueve las extremidades a gran velocidad.\n\nPIEL:<\/strong><\/span> Es muy fina y est\u00e1 pegada al cuerpo. Nunca presenta una piel muy marcada, ni papada, ni otros pliegos. El pelo es corto y fino. Y el color principal del pelaje es negro y fuego con varios grados de la extensi\u00f3n del negro sobre el fuego y de la tonalidad del fuego, ya que \u00e9ste es encendido en algunos casos o m\u00e1s mate y color canela en otros. Es frecuente tambi\u00e9n la presencia de manchas blancas, de extensi\u00f3n variable.
